Sweden's largest newspaper, Aftonbladet, put a panel of seven women to work testing lash serums over eight weeks. The result? Our Grow Gasm Lash Serum received a full five out of five – the top score in the test.

We're incredibly proud. Not just because of the score, but because of what the test was really about: lash serums that deliver results without prostaglandin analogues – the hormone-like ingredients the EU has now decided to ban in cosmetics.

How Aftonbladet tested the serums

Aftonbladet assembled a test panel of seven women aged 26 to 53 from across Sweden. Each tester was given one lash serum to use daily, documented her lashes with photos and gave the product a score from one to five. Every serum in the test was also checked for one thing in particular: whether it contains prostaglandin analogues.

Grow Gasm Lash Serum was tested by Julia, 31, a marketing coordinator from Stockholm, who applied it every evening for around eight weeks.

The verdict on Grow Gasm

«Ett av de bästa fransserum jag testat»

"One of the best lash serums I've tested" – Aftonbladet's tester

Julia noticed a difference after roughly three weeks of using the serum every night. After the full test period, she was very happy with the result: her lashes had become noticeably longer and fuller than before.

She also highlighted the applicator. Instead of a traditional brush, Grow Gasm has a fine, pen-like tip that makes it easy to draw a precise line right at the lash line – and she found that one dip held enough product for both eyes. The instructions were easy to follow, and the routine took seconds.

Her conclusion: she'll buy it again, and she has already recommended it to her friends.

From our salons: Three weeks to first results and eight weeks to a clear difference is exactly the timeline we see with our clients. The key is consistency – a thin line every single evening. The clients with the biggest transformations are the ones who don't give up after week two.

Why the test focused on prostaglandins: the EU ban

Aftonbladet's test comes at an important moment. According to the newspaper, EU member states voted on 16 September to ban prostaglandin analogues in cosmetic products. These hormone-like substances are found in many popular lash serums because they deliver fast growth – but they are the same group of substances used in glaucoma eye drops.

The Swedish Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket), which has flagged the substances as problematic, explains in the article that compounds with a pharmacological effect on the body belong in medicines, not cosmetics. The agency points to animal studies where high doses affected reproduction, and says there isn't enough data to rule out such effects in humans. Since lash serums are mainly used by women of fertile age, the agency believes the substances should be removed from these products. It has also received reports of redness, swelling and itching around the eyes.

The EU timeline, according to Aftonbladet:
Autumn 2027 – no new products containing prostaglandin analogues may be placed on the market.
Autumn 2028 – existing products containing the substances may no longer be sold at all.

At WOWBROW, this is nothing new for us. All our serums have always been 100% prostaglandin-free, built on peptides instead. Want to understand the difference in depth? Read our complete guide to prostaglandin-free lash serums.

How to get the same results

1

Start with clean skin

Remove all makeup in the evening so the serum reaches the lash line directly.

2

One thin line along the upper lash line

Use the fine tip to draw a single line at the root of the upper lashes, just like an eyeliner. More product doesn't mean faster results.

3

Every evening – no exceptions

Daily use is what makes the difference. Most people see results in 2–4 weeks.

4

Take a before photo

Photograph your lashes in the same light on day one. Change happens gradually, and the photo is your best motivation.
